Journalist

Shoshana Walter is a reporter for Reveal, covering human trafficking and public safety. Her investigation on America's armed security guard industry won the 2015 Livingston Award for Young Journalists for national reporting and also was featured in a two-part installment on CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360." She began her career as a police reporter for The Ledger in Lakeland, Florida, and previously covered violent crime and the politics of policing in Oakland, California, for The Bay Citizen. A graduate of Mount Holyoke College, Walter is the winner of the Sigma Delta Chi Award for Non-Deadline Reporting and a Gold Medal for Public Service from the Florida Society of News Editors. She has been a Dart Center Ochberg fellow for journalism and trauma at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and a John Jay/Harry Frank Guggenheim fellow in criminal justice journalism. She is based in Reveal's Emeryville, California, office.

Playwright

EUGENIE CHAN is artistic director of Eugenie Chan Theater Projects. Her award-winning plays have been produced across the country, including at Centenary Stage, Cutting Ball Theater, Houston Grand Opera, Northwest Asian American Theatre, Perishable, the Public Theater, San Francisco Mime Troupe, and Thick Description, among others. Her screenplays have screened at the Asians on Film, Berlin, Big Apple, Cinestory, Dis-Orient, Mill Valley, San Diego Asian, and Toronto Independent Film Festivals.

Eugenie teaches at the University of San Francisco’s Performing Arts & Social Justice Department, is playwright emerita at Cutting Ball Theater, and a New Dramatists and Playwrights Foundation on resident alumna. Her play, Madame Ho, inspired by her great grandmother’s life as an immigrant, single mother, and brothel madam in Barbary Coast Chinatown, premieres October 5 – 21, 2017 at the Exit Theater and October 28-29 at Cameron House, San Francisco.
